New Interactive Way to Learn about Carbon Capture

GCI exhibit on carbon capture and utilization opens at Matthaei Botanic Garden

The Global CO2 Initiative is exited to announce that the opening of their “Products from Pollution: Carbon Capture and Utilization” exhibit at Matthaei Botanic Gardens on Saturday, March 2! It will run until April 14.

Through this exhibit, visitors will learn about the role that carbon capture can play in the fight against climate change and why it is an important tool in the climate change fighting tool kit.

Callie Hastie, College of Engineering (COE) class of 2023, working on creating the video game.

The exhibit components, many of which were created by current or former University of Michigan students, include 

  • a direct air capture (DAC) device
  • a biochar sample 
  • samples of items made with captured CO2
  • an activity for young kids, with blocks and a city diorama and
  • a carbon capture video game created especially for this exhibit.

The video game can be played on home computers or phones, but you can see a demo of the game at the exhibit. You can also find a game trailer on Youtube.
