“What if instead of continuing to drill for new oil and gas below ground, we used the building blocks of hydrocarbons circulating around us to make new, renewable oil?”

Dimensional Energy creates and licenses catalyst technology that converts carbon dioxide emissions into hydrocarbons – essentially our technology makes new, renewable oil from the air. These hydrocarbons are useful for making fuels for airplanes and trucks as well as ingredients for the thousands of products people rely on every day. Dimensional Energy is also currently demonstrating the feasibility of making synthetic hydrocarbons directly from the carbon dioxide emissions created from the production of cement in Canada.

What is your origin story?
Dimensional Energy was founded in response to a question, “What if instead of continuing to drill for new oil and gas below ground, we used the building blocks of hydrocarbons circulating around us to make new, renewable oil?”
This approach helps bring the carbon cycle in balance by using excess carbon dioxide which is contributing to global warming and avoiding new emissions from new fossil fuels!

What products do you make?
The primary product that we make at Dimensional Energy is our catalyst and process technology that converts air into oil. We license our technology to projects to make an array of products. For example, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and renewable diesel are two products which can be used in existing engines to cut emissions by more than half. Additionally, products like adhesives, cosmetics and personal care products, inks, paints and coatings and candles all use waxes made from these hydrocarbons. Furthermore, another part of the hydrocarbon, naphtha, is an important ingredient in plastics.
