Many people are understandably anxious about the future in a world coping with the existential threat of climate change. For some, this anxiety can become debilitating. For others, however, it is possible to turn climate anxiety into action. If you are ready to turn your anxiety into action, here are some concrete steps you can take in the realm of carbon capture.

Educate yourself – test the waters
- Watch Susan Fancy’s Planet Blue presentation on carbon capture.
- Check out some of the intro level videos on the Global CO2 Initiative Youtube Channel.



Educate yourself – take a deep dive
- Take the PerotJain Techlab Climate Change class.
- Take a carbon management class.
- Read the CDR Primer.

Make it a group effort
- Grab a couple of friends and join a GCISA mass meeting. Meetings and other events can be found on the GCISA GroupMe channel.

Lend a hand
- Join the Global CO2 Initiative Student Association.
- Our mission is to build a diverse network of university students with tangible interest and involvement in the carbon removal community. Each facet of this student organization grapples with the task of getting carbon sequestration and utilization recognized and implemented as a mainstream climate solution, and shifting the sources of carbon for everyday living from fossil to non-fossil sources.



- Sign up to help at the Global CO2 Initiative May workshop on May 21 – May 23, 2024.
- We need student volunteers to help register participants, take notes, compile notes, make slides for zoom participants on the fly, move & set up equipment, etc. If you have some time available, contact krkattap@umich.edu for more information.




What ever actions you choose to do, remember that your actions matter. You may not be able to change the whole world by yourself, but you can still make a difference. And collectively, many people around the world are making a big difference, and that is evidence for hope.
